Las Vegas penthouse overlooking the Strip, two distinct theater experiences in one home. A 106 inch motorized Screen Innovations drop-down screen in front of expansive pocket doors, so the skyline stays unobstructed when it retracts. Ceiling height made a conventional projector impossible, so we inverted a Sony short-throw laser projector inside a custom Auton steel enclosure with a precision-cut lens opening. The great room runs separately on an AudioControl X9 driving concealed in-wall and in-ceiling speakers with hidden subs. Focal 1000 Series in the living room, Meyer Sound on the balconies, Control4 throughout.

Best Lighting Control Project
Gold
An LED-focused project built to accent the architecture itself. A 40 foot backlit onyx countertop and a bottom-lit glass railing on the upper patio, both custom, both under full DMX control. We learned the countertop was changing to onyx and needed backlighting one week out, with no conduit run for LED. After sunset the railing glows whatever color the owner picks, for anyone at the fire pit looking out at the Vegas lights. Control4 automation, centralized lighting and climate, and a Dolby Atmos theater with Sony projection, a 133 inch Screen Innovations screen, Denon receiver and Triad speakers.

Best Home Theater
Gold · Theater with a view
A custom theater built as an addition, with the reveal at the end of the movie. Behind the projection screen and blackout shade sits a pocket slider door. Once the screen and Lutron roll-up shade are secured, the room opens onto the patio with views of the Strip and the valley beyond. Hiding an oversized glass slider behind the screen was the hardest part of the build. We worked with the contractor from the start so the screen and projector pockets were sized for the rolled-up dimensions of both the screen and the shade. A 164 inch fixed-frame Screen Innovations screen with a Sony VPL-VW885ES 4K laser projector. Dolby Atmos 7.4.2 on a Denon X-8500 driving Triad in-ceiling and in-wall speakers with Atlantic Technology elevation speakers, treated with a dozen CineCoustic panels. Control4 scenes handle the rest.

Custom Integration

A full Control4 retrofit covering 16 audio zones and seven video zones with a dedicated theater and decorative RGB rope and accent lighting throughout. Security on 12 surveillance cameras and a Control4 DS2 door station with Intercom Anywhere. The theater is Dolby Atmos with Atlantic Technology speakers, a Sony 4K projector and a 132 inch Screen Innovations screen.
